How do you host a meeting at MIT?

Outside organizations or professional societies are welcome to hold conferences on our campus, provided they meet the following requirements:

  • The nature of the event must be consistent with the mission of MIT.
  • A current MIT faculty or staff member must agree to serve as the group sponsor and have their department head’s approval. The sponsor will be responsible for maintaining a connection between the outside group and the Conference Services Office throughout the planning and implementation stages of the event. It is the responsibility of the sponsor to assure that the visiting organization, its members, and the program, adhere to the generally accepted academic and communal standards of MIT. The sponsor is also financially liable for the program in the event that the outside organization is delinquent in this regard.
